There is so much to say. This trip is not what we had planned it to be! But God had different plans than we did. It is still so hard to believe all that has happened. Never in our wildest dreams would we have thought that this is why our flights were changed several weeks ago so that we were separated from the rest of the group. Even then, God was preparing this trip for us. It is such an obvious display of His work in our lives that I can't really even wrap my mind around it yet. Why us? I don't know yet, but I am sure He does!
Sunday was a wonderful day here on St. Vincent! We met the Church here! We attended a "country" church with a Pastor and his family, the Maloney's. The church was about 45 minutes away. That doesn't mean a thing to us in the States, but here, well, let just say it was an adventure! We all piled into the Maloney's 8 passenger van to make the trip. Yes, all 7 of us in the van with the 4 Maloney's! Then we stopped on the way to pick up their Granny in her village! Wow!! Jeff and Michelle tried to prepare us for this, but we really didn't know what to think. Now we know!
We enjoyed Sunday School and morning worship with the people of Calvary Baptist Church. Sara taught a Sunday School lesson to the children while Jeff taught the adults and teens. They both did a wonderful job. Ken preached the message. God used His word to help us all refocus on what was happening. The people here worship with all their hearts. When they sing...oh how I wish you could hear them sing!! I was overwhelmed at their worship!
In the evening, we attended Choppins Baptist Church with the Edward's family. We met Pastor Bonadie and his family there. We found this church to be just as welcoming and loving as the other. Ken preached again and we enjoyed the singing and worship with this precious church as well. We will be returning to this church to do one of the Bible clubs this week.
Today we are up early to begin working with Mr and Mrs Edwards at the college. The plan is for us to do some painting in the dorms this week. We hope to get as much done as we can. This afternoon we will all head back to Choppins for the first Bible club. Please pray for us today as we begin this part of our trip. Many of our supplies are still back in the States with the rest of the group. We are physically limited in what we can do...there are no Walmarts to run to on St. Vincent! But we are not limited in what God can do. Pray for creativity, wisdom, and physical strength. It is VERY hot here. I can feel it's effect on my body already.
Thank you all for your prayers and love! We'll post again soon!
