Day 2 has come and gone. I'm sitting on my bed in the quiet of our room reading the messages that everyone wrote today. (Yes, PJ, I am also watching for those "dinner plate" size spiders out of the corner of my eye as I write this! You weren't joking, were you!) As I read the posts made by all of our team members, here and in Iowa, I laughed, I cried, and I rejoiced! There simply are not words to express all that I am feeling and learning from this work of God! I am thinking of a song that God placed in my heart as I packed on Friday. It says:
"Be still, there is a healer. His love is deeper than the sea. His mercy, it is unfailing. His arms are a fortress for the weak. Let faith arise. I lift my hands to believe again. You are my refuge, you are my strength. As I pour out my heart, these things I remember. You are faithful, God, forever. Let faith arise! Be still, there is a river. That flows from Calvary's tree. A fountain for the thirsty. Pure grace that washes over me. Let faith arise!"
Today here in St. Vincent, we did our first Bible club. In other Bible clubs that we have done, I have watched my own 4 children serve side by side with their friends. Today, Jeff and I had the amazing blessing of watching the 4 of them serve side by side with each other. They were a team of brothers and sister. They worked together in such an amazing way. It was overwhelming to see things in all 4 of them that I had never seen before. This is like a dream, really! My heart is overflowing with love and gratefulness for the opportunity to be in the front row as we watch God transform every one of them!
My heart is also overflowing with love for the Iowa team as well! I am so proud (in a good way) of all of you. Your posts are full of joy and thankfulness - even a touch of humor! Everyone of you is a precious treasure and God has such amazing things in store for you all! Thank you for your servant's hearts. There has to be celebrating in Heaven for all that you are doing and for your love and concern for each other, for the people in Iowa, and for us. We are praying for you that God will continue to work in your lives as He is working in ours! Jeff and Michelle...this is your dream! You are living the desire that God has put in your heart during your ministry in Butler! God is giving you a glimpse of the work He has accomplished through you during your time with us! We love you much!!
Well, it's past "lights out" time. Tomorrow Ken, Dawn, Josh and Jeff are splitting from our group to head into the "city" to do the Gov't school Bible club. Ken and Dawn will go all 3 days while the rest of us rotate in to help them. This way we can all experience this ministry on the Island. Jeff and Josh are forging the way. Pray for their safety as they travel on the "public transportation" (bus) and meet the children there. This is not in a church, but in a public school so it is quite a bit different than the club the rest of us are doing.
Love to all...thank you so much for your prayers!
